Cala Montgó has once again revalidated the Blue Flag for the fourteenth consecutive year, which certifies the good environmental quality of the beach and the excellence of its services and remains one of the 96 Catalan beaches and 27 Girona beaches recognized with the Blue Flag.
Cala Montgó first achieved recognition in 2008 and has maintained it continuously since 2010. The blue flags are awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, which analyzes and evaluates the environmental management of the beaches, the safety of the bathing areas, the provision of services and the information provided. Also the quality of the water, which must be excellent to obtain recognition. This judgment is made by a group of 69 people representing the different public administrations, environmental foundations and experts in the field. These recognitions are valued internationally and are recognized in about forty countries around the world. As for marinas, 23 Catalan ports have been certified with a blue flag, one of which is that of l’Estartit.
