Espai Ter programs the latest musical by Dagoll Dagom, the seven-voice monologue by Pere Arquillué and the works Fitzroy and Cost de la Vida

Show of the Joy that happens (Photo: David Ruano))The Auditori Teatre Espai Ter , in Torroella de Montgrí, will close the celebration of its tenth anniversary with a program that, from this August until the beginning of January 2024, will offer eighteen theater, music, dance and circus shows.

The musical L’alegría que passa by Dagoll Dagom is one of the highlights of the new season. The facility will host what will be the last show created by the renowned company that brings a classic of Catalan literature back to the present day through dance, music and theatre. The work, by Santiago Rusiñol , is a short piece that has not been performed on professional stages for many years due to its brevity. Directed by Ariadna Peya , the musical is performed by Jordi Coll , Eloi Gómez, Júlía Genís and Pau Oliver , among others.

Collaboration with Temporada Alta

On the one hand, The most beautiful body that has ever been found in this place , the seven-voice monologue starring Pere Arquillué , with a text by Josep Maria Miró and directed by Xavier Albertí, which received the Born Award in 2020. And on the other hand, the piece Fitzroy , by the duo Jordi Galceran and Sergi Belbel , who reunite their talents after successes such as El mètodo Grönholm , El Crèdit and Paraules encadenades . The new theatrical proposal also features a spectacular cast of artists: Sílvia Bel , Sara Espígul , Míriam Iscla and Natalia Sánchez .

Another of this season’s standout theatrical works is Cost de vida , by playwright Martyna Majok , an original, honest and funny piece directed by Pau Carrió and performed by Julio Manrique , Pau Roca , Anna Sahun and ib Vankova . The theater season at Espai Ter will open on August 28 with the performance of El tigre , directed by Ramon Madaula and starring David Olivares and Mercè Martínez .

State-level award-winning shows

Arcaldanza (Photo: Espai Ter)In this new season and thanks to the Platea program, Espai Ter has also selected some of the best shows on the Spanish scene with proposals coming from Madrid , Andalusia or Galicia . One of the most interesting is the dance show Loop , a co-production of the Barcelona Grec Festival and Aracaladanza , one of the leading companies in Spain. This magical and seductive piece was awarded the FETEN Award for best dance show last year. The circus show Sopla!, by the Andalusian company Truca Circus , is also scheduled, with a proposal that combines a wide variety of circus techniques with live music and the freshest wordless humor at a fast pace. A multi-award winning piece that, among others, has received the Lorca Award for best circus show of 2023 from the Academia de Artes Escénicas de Andalucía. From Galicia comes a literary classic with Cigarreras , based on the work La tribuna by Emilia Pardo Bazán. This piece, which has continuously won awards at all kinds of festivals in Spain, tells the story of the impossible love between a proletarian and a bourgeois woman and the fall of the Bourbons in the 19th century.

The programming of the Platea program brings back to Espai Ter the actor Carlos Sobera who heads a cast of renowned artists – Ángel Pardo, Elisa Matilla, Silvia Vacas or Juanjo Cucalón – to present Miles Gloriosus , a classic comedy from the Roman era.

Tribute to Tete Montoliu

The musical section of the new season highlights the premiere of the tribute to musician Tete Montoliu in big band format, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth. Celebrating Tete & Big Band is an unprecedented show that will feature musicians who had a close bond with the Catalan artist: double bassist Horacio Fumero , vocalist Laura Simó , drummer Esteve Pi and pianist Ignasi Terraza .

The proposal is completed for this occasion with the special participation of the Girona Jazz Project and the direction of Perico Sambeat .

Premiere of the latest show by the Cascai Teatre company

Cascai Theatre (Photo: Espai Ter)In its commitment to local talent, Espai Ter is programming the premiere of the latest show from the Cascai Teatre company, with Marcel Tomàs and Toni Escribano . Un tal Quixot is the new proposal from the Girona company with a delirious show, where the protagonists of this universal novel will captivate the audience with their absurdities.

The Pastorets return to Torroella de Montgrí and to Espai Ter

After decades without performing, Torroella de Montgrí and Espai Ter are once again programming Els Pastorets by the Associació Teatral Teló Esquinçat. With the theatrical direction of Josep Maria Surroca and the musical direction of the Escola Municipal de Música i Dansa de Torroella , around fifty performers will take to the stage of Espai Ter to represent the eternal struggle between good and evil. This is the main novelty of the Christmas programming in the auditorium that will once again host the traditional New Year’s Concert, with the Terres de Marca Orchestra and its repertoire of waltzes and polkas, and the Concert de Reis , with the Gio Orchestra which in this case will offer the performance Clàssics del cinema, by the renowned composer, musician and orchestra conductor from Empordà Marc Timón . The Christmas programming is completed by another classic with the show Musinfant , music for babies.

Family proposals

Among the proposals for the whole family, Blancanieves stands out, the musical, by Candileja Producciones which has reinterpreted the classic by the Brothers Grimm in a show that promotes diversity and inclusion. Another proposal for the whole family is Ilusiónate, the latest show by the renowned illusionist Borja Montón programmed by the FIMAG Festival. And, finally, the Espai Ter will once again host the third edition of the Gala Pro Baix Ter which this year programs the show Les dones del rock.

Tickets for the new season of Espai Ter are now on sale through their website or in person. As usual, the Torroella de Montgrí facility also offers the T5 season ticket, which allows you to buy five tickets for five different shows at a price of €60, with discounts of up to 70%.
