L'Estartit will host the Spanish Championship of Underwater Photography and Video and Inclusive Underwater Photography from 16 to 20 October. The competition is organised by FEDAS (Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities) and FECDAS (Catalan Federation of Underwater Activities) and will feature 46 teams and 90 athletes. Five of the teams are inclusive.

L’Estartit will host the Spanish Championship of Underwater Photography and Video and Inclusive Underwater Photography from 16 to 20 October. The competition is organised by FEDAS (Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities) and FECDAS (Catalan Federation of Underwater Activities) and will feature 46 teams and 90 athletes. Five of the teams are inclusive. The competition will take place in the waters of the Medes Islands and the different teams will compete against each other to see who has the best underwater images and videos. Underwater photographers and videographers are divided into different categories with their own rules, which have to do with issues such as marine life, underwater landscapes, underwater portraits or close-up macro photography, among others. A specialised jury is responsible for evaluating the different photographs by analysing issues such as technique, composition, originality or the general quality of the images. Photographs and videos that cannot be changed much through post-production. In addition, a series of commissioners (a kind of competition referees) dive alongside the competitors to monitor compliance with the rules.

Involvement of the Natural Park

The Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park is part of the organization of the event and ensures that the championship is developed with special consideration for the conservation of natural values. The good behavior of photographers and cameras during the competition is valued and the regulations include penalties or disqualification for those who may use aggressive techniques or damage or disturb the natural environment.
