The Montgrí Massif is closed due to the high risk of fire

The heat wave with high temperatures and low humidity has forced the closure of access to the Montgrí Massif due to the extreme risk of forest fires. Since this Tuesday, the Generalitat de Catalunya has activated the Alfa 3 Plan in 57 municipalities and access to different natural spaces in the country such as Montgrí , Les Alberes , Cap de Creus , the Garraf Natural Park, Montsant and Montmell has been cut off.

The activation of level 3 of the Alpha Plan, the maximum level, implies the suspension of all actions with a risk of forest fire, forestry work and hunting, and leisure and recreational activities in the area of ​​the Massif. Access to the massif is completely prohibited both on foot and by vehicle, as well as the practice of sports activities in the natural environment is restricted. Agricultural work that poses a risk of fire is also suspended and all exceptional authorizations that had been given to make fires are revoked. It should be remembered that since March 15 there has been a general prohibition on lighting fires in forest land or in the 500-meter strip surrounding them, including barbecues in hermitages and other leisure areas. The Rural Agents, Firefighters and ADFs have reinforced surveillance and prevention devices. The objective of the access ban is to restrict human presence in the natural environment as much as possible since 90% of forest fires are the result of carelessness or negligence.
