The World Orienteering Championships for Veterans (WMOC25) 2025 will be held in Torroella de Montgrí . Girona will be the venue for a sporting event that brings together more than 10,000 people, including athletes and supporters, and has an economic impact of around 20 million euros.
The world championship has different formats or types of races, such as forest races, urban races or sprint races. Around 4,000 athletes aged thirty-five and over participate. Torroella de Montgrí will host the forest race format and will be one of the key towns of this world championship along with Pals , l’Escala , Banyoles , Besalú and Girona.
The competition was presented this week in Girona with the presence of the different institutions that support it. The Sports Councilor of Torroella de Montgrí City Council, Genís Pigem, was pleased that „our municipality is part of this World Orienteering Championship WMOC25 is a new opportunity to combine sports and tourism promotion and, therefore, we are very satisfied that the organization has chosen our destination to hold an event there“.
