The City Council of Torroella de Montgrí has completed the Diagnostic Report and received the Action Plan of the Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI) Network . This report, carried out by SEGITTUR , has been prepared based on 97 requirements and 261 indicators and is one of the elements that needed to be done after the municipality joined the DTI network.
The report is valid until August 23, 2024 and has been possible thanks to the collaboration of all municipal areas and private agents who have contributed to compiling the information that has allowed the diagnostic report and the action plan to be made for the coming years. This step allows the municipality to be accredited as a destination affiliated with the DTI Network and begin to implement a methodology that has as its backbones tourism development, governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology.
The Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) program is a project promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism (SETUR) and managed by the State Mercantile Company for the Management of Tourism Innovation and Technologies (SEGITTUR), which aims to contribute to improving the competitiveness of tourist destinations and the quality of life of the people who reside there by focusing on five areas: governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility. This initiative, which emerged from the Spanish National Tourism Plan 2012-2015, generates the appropriate mechanisms to facilitate the rapid incorporation of technological innovations into tourist destinations. The Smart Tourist Destination is defined as an innovative tourist destination, consolidated on a cutting-edge technological infrastructure, which guarantees the sustainable development of the tourist territory, accessible to everyone, facilitating the interaction and integration of visitors with the environment and increasing the quality of their experience at the destination and improving the quality of life of residents. To achieve these objectives, the DTI program promotes the implementation of a management model that takes into account the transversality of tourist activity and the differentiating characteristics of each destination.
