Torroella i l'Estartit participates in the 'Ecotourism, Nature and Sustainability' and 'Ecoplayas' forums

Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit are participating this week in two forums that have sustainability as a central element. They are Ecotourism, Nature and Sustainability and Ecoplayas .

The Ecotourism, Nature and Sustainability Forum is one of the leading ecotourism events in Catalonia with the participation of almost 200 people. It was held this Wednesday in Pla d’Urgell , organized by the Generalitat through the Ecotourism Board of the Department of Business and Employment. This year’s motto was ‚Rediscovering our natural spaces‘.

Promotion of Ecotourism

During this Wednesday morning, the first steps of the Ecotourism Plan of Catalonia were presented, which should serve to position the country as a territory that ensures the preservation of its natural spaces and promotes a sustainable and regenerative discovery of them. Elements that Torroella de Montgrí i l’Estartit has been working with for some time and that are reinforced within the framework of the Sustainability Plan that is being implemented in the municipality. The 20 years of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and how it has been implemented in Catalonia were also discussed. The day had two working tables on the ‚discovery of natural spaces in a responsible and healthy way‘, and another on the ‚discovery of natural spaces in an inclusive and guided way‘.

Experiences and studies on sustainable beach management

As for the Ecoplayas Congress, it is being held until Friday in Castelldefels , where different expert voices and those responsible for tourist destinations will present studies and experiences related to the sustainable management of beaches. The Congress also offers the opportunity to learn first-hand about the most innovative products in beach management through presentations by specialized companies.
