Marc Calvet and Begoña Pérez receive their diploma
The Union of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Costa Brava Centre has presented a diploma to the City Council of Torroella de Montgrí this Monday for the quality of the beach of l‘ Estartit . It has done so within the framework of the Timó awards that the entity presents each year to people, entities or companies for their career and contribution to the world of tourism. The councilor for coastal management, Marc Calvet , and the beach technician, Begoña Pérez , have collected the quality diploma for the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and EMAS certificates.
Since July 2006, the Platja Gran de l’Estartit has had international certification for an Integrated Management System (ISM) for environmental quality and tourism quality. An environmental management system that ensures the preservation of the environment and analyzes the satisfaction of beach users. Among other things, this work has allowed improvements over the years to the beach’s signage, equipment and accessibility; the safety of bathers; the cleaning and signage of the space and the improvement of the furniture.
The award ceremony for the diplomas and rudders took place at the Hotel Terraverda in Gualta after two years of closure due to the pandemic. Martí Sabrià i Deulofeu , manager of the Costa Brava Centre Group for more than forty years until his retirement in December 2020, was recognized with its highest distinction, the Timó d’Or. Also the Costa Brava Local Fishing Action Group (GALP) with the Timó d’Argent in recognition of the work for sustainable fishing and the promotion of local fish products in an area of action of eleven municipalities on the Girona coast. The award ceremony also presented several other awards: the distinction for 75 years of activity went to the Hostal Restaurant La Llagosta in Llafranc; the 50 years for the Restaurant Mas dels Arcs in Palamós ; while the Cooperative Supplier Award went to MediaMarkt Business.
At the same time, quality certificates were awarded to the Torroella de Montgrí – L’Estartit City Council (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EMAS), the L‘ Escala Tourist Office (Q de Calidad Turística), the Hotel Hostalillo de Tamariu (SICTED, ISO 14001) and Kayaking Costa Brava (ISO 9001, ISO 14001). The Timó 2021 awards were presented within the framework of the 2022 ordinary general assembly of the association.
