Stretching for almost 3.3 kilometres, L’Estartit Beach is one of the longest sandy beaches on the Costa Brava. Running along the town’s waterfront, it is divided into three distinct areas: the Main Beach, Griells Beach and La Pletera Beach.
Clearly marked swimming areas and designated watersports zones ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, allowing beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts to share the coastline comfortably.
Located right in front of L’Estartit’s town centre, the Main Beach is the most popular section of the coastline and offers the widest range of facilities and services. Its broad stretch of golden sand, shallow waters and variety of leisure activities make it an ideal choice for families with children, groups of friends and visitors looking for comfort while enjoying the stunning surroundings of the Costa Brava.
Facilities & Services
Situated between the Ter Vell Nature Reserve and the residential area of Els Griells, this section offers a quieter atmosphere than the Main Beach. It is particularly popular with visitors seeking a more relaxed setting while remaining close to services, as well as with watersports enthusiasts. The nearby nature reserve provides a unique landscape and makes this area ideal for combining beach time with nature.
A designated dog-friendly area is also available.
Facilities & Services
La Pletera is the most natural and least developed section of L’Estartit Beach. Surrounded by dunes, wetlands and protected habitats, it offers a peaceful and authentic coastal experience, ideal for visitors who want to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the Mediterranean landscape.
Together with the Ter Vell Nature Reserve, it forms part of an environmental restoration project that has helped recover coastal dunes and wetland lagoons in the Baix Empordà region. Its unspoilt surroundings and rich biodiversity make it one of the most distinctive natural areas along this stretch of coastline.
A designated kitesurfing area is also available.
Facilities & Services
L’Estartit Beach is committed to sustainability, high-quality visitor services and the protection of its natural environment. Since 2006, it has operated under an integrated environmental and tourism quality management system, ensuring responsible coastal management and the continuous improvement of facilities and services.
This approach is supported by recognised European and international certifications that acknowledge best environmental practices, the conservation of coastal ecosystems and the quality of the visitor experience.
