The Tourist Immersion Day , which is organized every year by the Territorial Promotion Area of the Torroella de Montgrí-L’Estartit City Council, has already become an essential event for the municipality’s tourism sector, which attends it with the aim of seeing and participating in the balance of the season.
The Tourist Office made a global presentation of the data for the tourist season, such as the profile of visitors served during 2019, the impact of the promotion and communication campaigns, participation in promotional fairs or the management of the beaches and the accessibility of the maritime area, among others. In one of the most relevant points on the development of strategic projects, reference was made to the renewal of the indicators and the recognitions received internationally on the work programs linked to the management of the destination, as well as the sources of financing and expenditure schedule of the Espai Medes, which is currently in the second phase of construction. Mention was also made of the completion of the Life Pletera Project and the new network of itineraries inaugurated at the beginning of the year in the marshland, and of the current status of the agreement with the municipalities of the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands and Baix Ter, which will allow working together on the strategic local development plan within the scope of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS). In addition, this year there was the participation of the consultant Xavier Esteller, an expert in innovation and tourism development who offered an interesting talk on the cycle tourism product, and of the Estació Nàutica de l’Estartit, which presented its action plan. The objective of the day, which was to bring together the majority of representatives of the municipality’s tourism fabric to inform about the work done, was met. Work is already underway on the next session, which will be in January 2020 , in which the study of the results of the visitor surveys or the analysis of the economic impact of tour operators in Torroella de Montgrí and L’Estartit will be presented.
