Cala Montgo
Cala Montgó has once again been awarded the Blue Flag , which certifies the good environmental quality of the beach and its services.
The Foundation for Environmental Education has made public these internationally recognized awards with a presence in more than forty countries around the world. In the country as a whole, 94 beaches have been recognized with the blue flag, 26 of which correspond to the Girona Regions. Cala Montgó has revalidated a label that it obtained in 2008 and that it has maintained uninterruptedly since 2010.
The blue flags are awarded by the Environmental Education Foundation, which analyzes and evaluates the environmental management of beaches, the safety of bathing areas, the provision of services and the information provided. Also the quality of the water, which must be ‘excellent’ to obtain the recognition. The international jury that awarded the blue flags met on April 20 in Denmark and awarded more than 5,000 blue flags, of which 4,194 correspond to beaches, 732 to marinas and 116 to tourist boats.
Precisely, in the area of ports, l’Estartit is also in luck, since the town’s Yacht Club has revalidated the environmental award for another year.
