French, Catalans and Spaniards, the nationalities that have made the most requests to the L'Estartit Tourist Office this season

A family contemplates the Medes Islands from La PleteraFrench, Catalans and Spaniards are the nationalities that have made the most requests to the L’Estartit Tourist Office this past summer season, where just under 30,000 inquiries have been received between the months of May and September, including the Easter period. Almost 2% more than last year. The majority of requests, 27,650, have been made in person, but some have also been answered by telephone and through the Tourist Destination’s social networks.

The Tourism Department of the Torroella de Montgrí City Council has compiled data from inquiries made to the l’Estartit Tourist Office and the Torroella de Montgrí Tourist Information Point during this mid and high season.

Central and Northern European tourism increases

In L’Estartit, French tourists have had the most interactions with the Tourist Office with 11,828 queries, followed by nationals with 8,483 and Spaniards with 3,998. Dutch (1,379 queries), Germans (986 queries) and British (980 queries) complete the Top-6 of the ranking. If we extract trends from these figures, it is worth highlighting the increase in central and northern European tourism in L’Estartit. British queries have increased by 5% compared to the previous year, Dutch queries by 6%, Germans by 8% and British queries by 5%. However, the markets that have increased the most are Scandinavian (+22%), Belgian (+17%) and Eastern European countries (11%).

In Torroella de Montgrí, dominance of the internal market

Two girls visit Torroella de MontgríAt the Tourist Information Point in Torroella de Montgrí, on the other hand, there is a clear dominance of national tourism with just over 3,600 queries followed by French (1,314 queries) and Dutch (366 queries). The Top-6 is completed by the Spanish markets (341 queries), Belgian (225 queries) and British (165 queries). In the case of Torroella de Montgrí, it is worth highlighting the increase in queries from French (+42%), German (+28%) and British (+23%) tourists.

Events, general information and about the Costa Brava, the most requested

In the field of the type of consultation that is made both at the Tourist Office and at the Tourist Information Point, the events that take place in the municipality are the most in demand with 5,693 consultations referring to this issue; followed by the question ‘what can we do here’ (3,528) and information about the Costa Brava and the Girona region (2,566). Also in high demand are information regarding transport (2,349 consultations), boat excursions (2,221 consultations) or routes and itineraries through the natural park (2,147 consultations).

Basques and Madrid residents lead state tourism

In the field of tourism from the Spanish State, excluding Catalan tourism, Basques and Madrid are the ones who come the most to Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit if we take into account the number of consultations they make. Specifically, 1,237 consultations between Torroella and l’Estartit from tourists from the Basque Country and 656 from tourists from Madrid. The Top-5 are completed by Navarre with 554 consultations and Aragonese with 517 consultations.
