On Saturday, May 18, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities for the whole family. From 11 am, a popular sonsada in the port of l’Estartit will start the day, followed by a fun family fish stamping workshop by the company La Sal d’Olot. At 11.30 am, Les Anxovetes will offer a vermouth concert with their habaneras, livening up the fishermen’s breakfast. At 5 pm, those interested can enjoy a guided tour entitled ‘L’Estartit, Terra de Pescadors’, organized by the Museum of the Mediterranean. On Sunday, May 19, at 11 am, the events will continue with the christening of the new big fish of l’Estartit: l’Estar and en Tit. A starfish and a seagull that animate accompany a self-guided route with family games through the most emblematic landscapes of L’Estartit. The event will culminate with a parade through the streets of the town, accompanied by the local Colla Gegantera Xiscu i Remei, the Grallers del Montgrí and the Colla Gegantera de Caldes. At 12 pm, in Plaça 1 d’Octubre, Galiot Teatre will present the family show ‘En Bernat el Pescador’. At the same time, at the Museum of the Mediterranean in Torroella de Montgrí, the exhibition ‘Nanses i pescadors’ will be on view throughout the weekend.
Accompanying this event, from May 15 to June 15, 13 restaurants in the municipality offer special menus with the sonso as the protagonist, fusing culinary tradition with innovative touches. In addition, the Sonso Weekend will include a Technical Conference aimed at professionals, with conferences on marine biology, the management of the sonso fishery and other related topics, followed by a tasting of tapas with this fish as the protagonist. The Sonso Weekend in l’Estartit is organized by the Torroella de Montgrí City Council, the EMD of l’Estartit, the Fishermen’s Brotherhood of the town and AFOMTUR , with the collaboration of the GALP Costa Brava through the European Union.
