L’Estartit will host the Costa Brava Stage Run , which will end its second stage in the town. The fifth edition of this prestigious trail running race has sold out all registrations and will feature international participants.
The race leaves Blanes this Friday, April 14, the arrival of the second stage in L’Estartit is this Saturday, April 15 and it ends on Sunday, April 16 in Portbou.
The CBSR has two distance categories: the 80-kilometer and a longer 120-kilometer one. The first stage is the same for both categories, sharing the same route and distance with 22 km and 900 meters of positive elevation gain. The second stage begins in Platja d’Aro, passing through Calella de Palafrugell and ending in l’Estartit, with a route of 30 km and 1,200 meters of positive elevation gain in the 80-km category and the 120-km version differs with a distance of 48 km and 1,600 meters of positive elevation gain. The third and final stage will have its starting point in Roses and will end in Portbou at a distance of 120 kilometers, with a route of 48 km and 1,500 meters of positive elevation gain, while the 80-km category will begin in Cadaqués with a distance of 29 km and 910 meters of positive elevation gain, but will also end in Portbou.
The 5th edition of the Costa Brava Stage Run has sold out the 250 available registrations for both modalities, with 35% of female participation. Almost 70% of the participation in this race is of international origin, highlighting Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands as the countries with the greatest presence of runners. More than 350 people between participants and companions will enjoy the charms of the race and the environment in a shared experience. This stage foot race stands out for its magnificent route through emblematic spaces such as the Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes, coves such as Sa Tuna or Cala d’Aiguablava, virgin beaches such as Gola del Ter and natural parks such as the Montgrí Natural Park, Illes Medes i Baix Ter and the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
