L’Estartit will be one of the four venues that will open the MIC 2022. The Costa Brava Base Football World Cup will be played between April 12 and 17 in 46 different playing fields including the municipal sports fields of Torroella and L’Estartit.
The municipality will be one of the venues for a competition that is making a strong comeback after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. It will bring together grassroots football from the most prestigious clubs, football schools and national teams in the world.
MICFootball is one of the most important sporting events of the spring with nearly 6,000 athletes from more than 300 teams from around thirty different countries. They arrive accompanied by family and friends and their respective staff. The economic impact of the event is estimated at 11 million euros and is broadcast worldwide via television rights and streaming. Among the clubs participating in the event are FC Barcelona , Real Madrid , Manchester United , Liverpool , PSG , Ajax , Bayern Munich , Inter Milan , and the national teams of Brazil and Mexico , to name a few.
In the case of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit, it will host the U12 category, whose teams will be staying in the municipality. L’Estartit, for its part, will be one of the four venues where the competition will open with a parade of clubs and two matches. The one that will face Albion SC San Diego against EF Baix Ter and Total Football Academy against l’ Escala .
