The director of the Ítaca Festival , Fran Arnau , raised the Q flag for Tourist Quality on the Platja Gran de l’Estartit this Wednesday. It was a symbolic act with which the musical event sought to recognize the contribution of the promotion and economic and cultural dynamism of the Torroella – l’Estartit – Illes Medes destination.
The flag is a recognition of the integrated system of management and environmental and tourist quality of the large beach of L’Estartit. A system that allows monitoring of the different municipal services that operate on the beach. This is the twelfth season that the flag, awarded by the Secretary of State for Tourism and through the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality , has been achieved after passing strict quality controls. The event this morning was attended, among others, by the mayor, Jordi Colomí ; the president of the EMD , Francesc Ferrer ; the first deputy mayor and councilor for Coastal Management and Beaches, Marc Calvet , in addition to technical staff and those responsible for services linked to the beach.
The Ítaca Festival celebrated its tenth anniversary this year and throughout this decade both Torroella and l’Estartit have been important stages of its programming. In fact, the Platja Gran de l’Estartit celebrates the Sant Joan festival every year with three days of massive concerts under the title of Ítaca Sant Joan.
