Nova web Turisme The Torroella de Montgrí – L’Estartit – Illes Medes Tourist Destination has launched a new version of its website: a more modern, accessible, and user-optimised platform. This new portal has been funded through the Tourism Sustainability Plan and is designed to serve as the main showcase for the municipality’s tourism offering, providing easy access to comprehensive information for both visitors and residents.

A website adapted to today’s needs

The new website, accessible via visittorroella.com and visitestartit.com, offers improved navigation and a more intuitive user experience, both on mobile devices and tablets. One of the key innovations is the inclusion of a Catalan easy-to-read version. The portal remains available in six languages (Catalan, English, French,Spanish, German and Dutch), and retains the previous site’s structure but with a clearer and more accessible layout.

The site has been developed by 6Tems, a digital communications and web development company based in Cassà de la Selva (Girona province, Catalonia)

A functional and visually appealing structure

The new website is organised in thematic blocks and built on a WordPress architecture, ensuring smoother and faster browsing. The homepage is divided into three main sections: Torroella de Montgrí, L’Estartit, and the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park. It also includes a dynamic space updated throughout the year with highlights and key events from the local agenda.

The main menu includes sections such as: “Discover”, “What to do”, “Plan your stay”, “Agenda”, and “Professional”. Discover offers detailed information on the area’s main tourist attractions, including cultural sites, beaches, natural spaces, and the towns of Torroella, L’Estartit, and the Medes Islands area. What to do highlights activities and services linked to active tourism, ecotourism, family travel and accessible tourism. Plan your stay provides practical information on gastronomy, accommodation, and local shops. The Agenda is integrated with the municipal activity calendar. The Professional section features press releases, professional and educational dossiers, and relevant information for tourism professionals and media. One standout feature of the new portal is the real-time weather section, providing up-to-date information for both locals and visitors.

Optimised for search engines and social media

The new website has been designed with SEO optimisation in mind, ensuring strong visibility in search engines and making content more accessible to users. The site is also integrated with social media platforms and includes a newsletter that users can subscribe to in order to receive the latest updates. It is also connected to Google Analytics for technical monitoring and performance analysis.

The new architecture will also make it easier for the municipal technical team to manage, maintain and update the site more efficiently.

The website is currently in a testing phase to fine-tune any final details and ensure everything runs smoothly. During this period, improvements will continue to be implemented as needed, and full accessibility will be guaranteed once this phase concludes.

A complementary digital ecosystem

This new site is complemented by two newly developed platforms. First, the Espai Medes website. Second, a new portal that brings together tourism resources related to the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park, covering the eight municipalities that form part of the protected area.
