The visits to validate and advise municipal facilities and tourist establishments in Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit on accessibility have begun. This is an initiative within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan and aims to improve the inclusiveness and accessibility of the Destination’s tourist offer.
An accessibility technician is visiting various establishments and facilities in Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit and asks them a questionnaire with several questions about infrastructure, signage, staff training, access or other elements to serve people with both physical and intellectual disabilities. Finally, he takes a tour of the facility. With all the information received and observed, a report is made that identifies the situation of the establishment in terms of accessibility and what can be done to improve it. This report is confidential and its conclusions are of voluntary application. The reports take into account current state and regional legislation on sustainability and the methodology of the Tourism Accessibility Plan of the Baix Empordà Regional Council. The company awarded the service has been Baldrick and Munitz SL , a company based in Roses specializing in tourism consulting and that has worked for several town halls in the country in the development of similar projects. The contract is valid for 10 months and the maximum period for preparing the reports for each of the establishments is three months.
