10. Santa Caterina Gateway

Torroella was walled until the end of the 19th century. Fortunately, some sections of the wall remain standing, such as the Santa Caterina Gateway.

The 14^th-century tower of the Santa Caterina Gateway is the only one preserved from the six gates of the old wall. Go through the doorway of the tower and take the left-hand pavement: you will see some stretches of wall originating in the Early Middle Ages but rebuilt in the times of King Pere III The Ceremonious and Joan I (14^th century).
