Although the construction of this chapel dates back to the 13th century (documented since 1305), when Torroella became a royal town, its current appearance is the result of the renovation carried out in the 18th century, when the facade was completely renovated, eliminating the porches and building the pointed bell tower with a gable that now characterizes it. In this renovation, the materials from the old front were used. In the same renovation, the roof structure was hidden and the choir was built. All that remains of the old building is the nave, covered with a groin vault. The contrast between the front, made of well-cut and aligned ashlars, and that of the side facade, made of masonry, is very striking. The door on the side facade was opened in the 1880s using some of the stones from a portal of the demolished Segarra house.
