Remodeling works begin on the Can Castells building

This week, the rehabilitation works of the municipal building located in Can Castells , in Plaça de la Vila, 6, have begun. This action is included in the Tourism Sustainability Plan of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit , specifically in line 4.1 which refers to improving the reception of visitors. The building will house the Tourist Office , the Economic Promotion and Commerce areas, the new studios of Ràdio Montgrí , as well as the commercial development entity Montgrí Comerç. The work has an execution cost of 589,000 euros and an approximate duration of 14 months.

During the works, there will be movement of small trucks to bring in the material. An attempt will be made to minimize the impact on the public road as much as possible, and to respect the traffic on Carrer Major and Plaça de la Vila as much as possible, especially from 10 am, when shops are open.

A project within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan

The Tourism Sustainability Plan of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit (2021-2023) is a strategic municipal project promoted by the Torroella de Montgrí City Council, in collaboration with the EMD of l’Estartit. It is implemented within the framework of the “Tourism Sustainability Plans” program promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, which also has the participation of the Generalitat of Catalonia, through the Department of Business and Employment. In our municipality it also has the financial support of the Girona Provincial Council. Its objective is to consolidate and give new impetus to the regeneration work of the destination that has been underway in the municipality for three decades. With a total of 3.6 million euros, it will allow the execution of 29 projects and actions, grouped into 16 actions for urban improvement, infrastructure, services and natural spaces.
