The beach season in Torroella de Montgrí and l'Estartit begins

Coinciding with the start of the Easter holidays, the Platja Gran de l’Estartit has started the lifeguard service from 11 am to 6 pm.

Over the past few weeks, the municipal brigade has been preparing the beaches with all their services. The sand has been cleaned with machinery and manually in the case of natural beaches. The walkways have also been placed and showers and footbaths have been installed. Although, this year, due to the extreme drought situation that the country is experiencing, these will be temporarily out of service. Signs in several languages ​​have been installed informing about the situation. Despite being inactive, the showers were installed to have them ready in case the situation changes and the swamps are full again. In the area of ​​improving services, several toilets have been replaced this year and the renovated La Pineda de l’Estartit Park has been opened, after months of work within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan. Regarding waste management, green points have been installed in different places on the beaches to separate garbage.

Service on weekends and holidays until June 15th

One of the toilets that have been installed on the beachThe lifeguard and surveillance service will be provided daily until Easter Monday every day and then, on weekends and holidays until June 15, when it will be daily again until the end of the summer season, which will be September 15. Then it will be provided again on weekends and holidays until October 12. In July and August, the hours will be extended by an hour and a half and the lifeguards will work between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Service will also be provided on the beaches of Mas Pinell and Montgó . The latter with service from June 15 to September 15. The lifeguard points have equipment to facilitate bathing for people with reduced mobility such as amphibious chairs, crutches and other elements.

 

More than 5 km of beaches

Torroella i l’Estartit has over 5 km of fine, shallow sand, some of which are of high natural value and practically virgin and very extensive. The beaches of the municipality can accommodate an average of 40,000 daily users in high season.
