THE CAMPSITES OF TORROELLA AND L'ESTARTIT WILL OPEN IN STAGES BETWEEN JUNE 13 AND JULY 1

We are the tourist destination with the most camping spaces, 14,703, and one of the leaders in Europe in quality and sustainability.

10.06.2020 Torroella de Montgrí i l’Estartit, el municipi de Catalunya amb més places de càmping, 14.703, tenen previst iniciar la reobertura d’aquests establiments a partir d’aquest dissabte, dia 13 de juny. La intenció és que quasi tots els 10 càmpings del municipi puguin començar a obrir esglaonadament entre el 13 de juny i l’1 de juliol. Torroella de Montgrí i l’Estartit s’han convertit els darrers anys en una destinació campista de referència a la Costa Brava i a l’Estat espanyol. La crisis turística derivada de la COVID-19 ha impedit que aquests establiments encara no hagin obert. Els càmpings del nostre municipi, que han estat reconeguts sobretot per temes de sostenibilitat i estan situats en indrets declarats per l’ONU com a espai sostenible pel seu model d’integració i ecoturisme, compten amb un protocol de mesures per evitar el contagi. Els 9 càmpings que preparen la reobertura els propers dies són, per ordre cronològic, el Medes (13 de juny), Rifort (15), L’Empordà i L’Estartit (20), Delfín Verde (23), Castell Montgrí i La Sirena (26), Ter (30) i Punta Milà (1 de juliol). El Molino, que està pendent d’una important remodelació, romandrà tancat fins la temporada que ve. Per a Dúnia Oliveras, regidora de la Destinació Turística de l’Ajuntament de Torroella de Montgrí i l’Estartit, la reobertura dels càmpings durant aquest juny significa «una molt bona notícia. En condicions normals tots ja estarien oberts, si bé l’època forta es concentra al juliol i a l’agost. Per l’ocupació dels càmpings serà determinant l’afluència de client estranger, sobretot holandès». Són un sector estratègic en l’oferta local d’allotjament turístic, que representa gairebé un terç (14.703) del conjunt de places de què disposa el municipi (prop de 40.000). «S’ha de tenir en compte que si tots els càmpings omplissin totes les places superaríem de llarg el nombres d’habitants del municipi (11.645); això havia passat algun cop, anys enrere», afegeix Oliveras, que considera que Torroella i l’Estartit té «una molt bona oferta de càmpings». L’Ajuntament de Torroella de Montgrí, en coordinació amb l’EMD de l’Estartit, està enllestint mesures de caràcter econòmic i tècnic, i un pla de promoció per atenuar l’impacte de la COVID-19 en el sector turístic i comercial, i afrontar l’escenari del desconfinament.

Leaders in Europe in sustainability and recognized by the United Nations
The campsites of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit have been awarded various prestigious awards in recent years and are benchmarks in Europe, especially in terms of sustainability . This commitment to sustainability has been in line with the municipality for decades and last year was recognized by the United Nations for its urban planning model. In September 2019, in Ethiopia, the Torroella de Montgrí City Council received recognition from the Sustainable Cities And Human Settlements Awards, convened by the Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS), for having established a good model of sustainable and resilient development and for the integration of ecotourism in its planning. In this sense, it is worth highlighting actions ranging from tourism planning , with the reduction of building land; and the commitment to the conservation of natural heritage , with the Medes Islands protected since 1983, the Natural Park since 2010 and with environmental restoration projects such as the Pletera. They are also committed to the conservation of historic centers, restoration of heritage elements such as the church of Santa Maria de Palau; and have received accreditations as a sustainable tourism destination with the Green Destination Gold Award and Europarc Cets awards. Safety protocol to avoid contagion
The campsites of Torroella and l’Estartit have a protocol of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has been prepared by the Technical Committee constituted by the ICTE in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Campsites and Holiday Cities (FEEC) and territorial sectoral organizations, companies in the sector, and agreed with the Spanish Association of Occupational Prevention Services (AESPLA), PRL Innovació, and with the CCOO and UGT unions.
