From March 30 to July 7, Ítaca 2024 will offer a total of 18 performances in six municipalities throughout l’Empordà, including l’Estartit for the festival of Sant Joan. This Monday, the poster for the festival was presented in Gualta, which has one of its most outstanding moments in Ítaca Sant Joan de l’Estartit.
The 12th edition of the festival is the most female line-up in its history: almost two-thirds of the programmed proposals are led by women. And, once again, the Ítaca Festival is committed to a programming marked by a great stylistic variety from the hand of a wide range of Catalan artists and from all over the state, while maintaining the commitment to proposals with DO from Girona regions.
As for L’Estartit, Ítaca Sant Joan has scheduled two nights of concerts with names such as Arde Bogotá , Cala Vento , Marlena , the Ludwing Band and Ryna Dj on the 22nd and The Tyets , Julieta , Mushka , Classe B and Dj Trapella on the 23rd. Tickets for these concerts are already available, as are subscriptions, through the website itacacultura.cat , where you can check schedules and other details of interest.
Added to all this is the symbolism of the iconic Trojan Horse , a large-format dynamic sculpture, created by the La Llata collective, formed by Martí Batlle, Esteve Subirah and Joan Vinyes , plastic artists from Baix Ter, which will make its world debut with the help of Ítaca, Cultura i Acció in order to bring culture to every corner of the Empordà. Today it galloped for the first time to arrive at the presentation of the entire Ítaca 2024 poster. Like the iconic figure that served Ulysses to sneak into Troy, the Empordà version of the Trojan Horse is conceived as a scenic space where things will happen, an icon that will transport culture and celebration that has been built on wheels so that it is mobile, with the intention of energizing events. This sculpture will also be present in L’Estartit on the two days of concerts.
“ÍTACA wants to be like the Trojan Horse of culture, bringing unique experiences to the town squares and emblematic places of the territory, while continuing to bet on the most crowded event of the festival on the beach of l’Estartit”, explained the festival director Fran Arnau. “We present a line-up with popular prices that has already exceeded parity, with almost two-thirds of female proposals, and we continue to walk for the sustainability and comfort of the festival audience”, he added. ÍTACA, Cultura i Acció is organised by the Girona-based production company Link Produccions with the collaboration of all the town councils of the municipalities where it passes, in the case of Ítaca Sant Joan, with the collaboration of the EMD.
