The MIC has opened fire in L’Estartit
The MIC began in L’Estartit in a packed football field. The village was one of the four venues for the inauguration of a youth football world cup that returns after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.
Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit are the headquarters of the U12 category , whose teams gathered this morning at the municipal football field in the coastal town to receive accreditations and commemorative souvenirs from the sporting event.
The Mayor of Torroella de Montgrí, Jordi Colomí ; the President of the EMD, Francesc Ferrer ; and the Councilor for Sports, Genís Pigem , received the teams including Manchester United , Real Madrid , Club Català de Puerto Rico , Wakatake from Japan and Olympice de Marseille, as well as the local EF Baix Ter or nearby ones such as l’Escala , or EF Gironès . Colomí welcomed the athletes, their entourage and their families and invited them to enjoy the competition and visit a municipality that “is rich in landscape, territory and heritage”. For his part, Ferrer celebrated the return of a MIC that “brings smiles and joy to l’Estartit” and stated that “dreams begin here”. The competition will host more than 6,000 participants from all over the world at the different venues on the Costa Brava. In the case of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit, it hosts the U12 category, whose teams are housed in the municipality.
