The Torroella de Montgrí City Council has awarded an advisory and consultancy contract so that accommodation, facilities and tourist companies can improve their accessibility and be more inclusive. The contract has been made within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan that is being implemented in the municipality and has a cost of 25,200 euros.

The Councilor for Tourism, Dúnia Oliveras, hopes that the companies in the municipality will take advantage of this opportunity to find out what their weak points are in terms of accessibility in their businesses and that once the diagnosis has been received, they can, little by little, make them more accessible and more inclusive, and therefore more friendly to people who suffer from some type of disability. The awarded company has been Baldrick and Munitz SL , a company based in Roses specializing in tourism consulting and that has worked for several town halls in the country in the development of similar projects. The contract has a validity of 10 months and the maximum period for producing the reports for each of the establishments is three months.

The reports will take into account current state and regional legislation on sustainability and the methodology of the Tourist Accessibility Plan of the Baix Empordà Regional Council.

The technical staff who will prepare the report will analyse the situation of the buildings and facilities in relation to the accessibility of all those people with disabilities, whether physical or motor, sensory or intellectual, reduced mobility or special needs. They will also study whether the documentation and signage with which the company analysed works complies with the minimum standards of inclusivity. Issues such as external accessibility, access to the establishment, vertical communication of the building, common areas, doors and toilets, fire and emergency protection, signage and training of the staff working in the company in terms of accessibility, among others, will be studied. Finally, changes will be suggested so that accessibility improves. Changes that the company in question will then decide whether to implement and how.
