The 43rd edition of the Torroella de Montgrí Festival will be held between July 29 and August 18 with a total of 17 concerts that offer a musical journey spanning five centuries from the Renaissance to the 21st century.
The programming will have a significant presence of vocal music and follows the Festival’s philosophy of combining artists with recognized careers with young musical talents who are beginning to stand out internationally.
The Torroella Festival will open its 43rd edition with its own production of the oratorio Giuseppe riconosciuto by Catalan composer Domènec Terradellas ; and will close with Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson , who will perform the Goldberg Variations . Other names in the festival are the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and tenor Mark Padmore , French violinist Amandine Beyer and her group Gli Incogniti ; Caribbean soprano Jeanine De Bique accompanied by Concerto Köln ; French ensemble Le Poème Harmonique under the direction of
Vincent Dumestre ; O vos Omnes ; pianist Juliana Avdeeva ; the debut concert in Torroella of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe , conducted by the British Daniel Harding ; the Gerhard Quartet in co-production with the Quincena Musical Donoistiarra ; soprano Erika Grimaldi ; the pianist Albert Guinovart ; the Vallès Symphony Orchestra and pianist Marco Mezquida ; the group L’Arpeggiata ; Els Sacqueboutiers ; and a Festival classic such as Joaquin Achucarro.
Tickets for the 43rd edition of the Torroella Festival will go on sale to the general public from Sunday, May 21. On May 19 and 20, there will be a preferential sale to members of Joventuts Musicals de Torroella de Montgrí. This edition, the Festival will maintain the Butaca Jove, a ticket option priced at €5 for those under 30 that can be purchased at the box office half an hour before the concerts.
