The Tourism Department of the Torroella de Montgrí City Council is adding new educational resources to the Estar and Tit route , which allows you to discover L’Estartit in a gamified way. These two characters, a seagull and a starfish, accompany families on a tour of the town’s main tourist attractions. Until now, the two drawings appeared on the information panels that mark the main points of interest with a downloadable activity folder. And now, a treasure map and a story have been added.
L’Estar and Tit appear on the panels of two routes that allow you to discover the natural and fishing heritage of l’Estartit. There are 19 points of interest, 10 and 9 for each of the routes, with information about the space and a proposal for an activity for families. This tourist resource is reinforced by a game booklet that proposes a challenge for each of the points of interest . This booklet can be downloaded through the website visitestartit.com
Now, in addition to the panels and the activity booklet, two new resources have been added: A treasure map and a story. The treasure map allows you to follow the route and at each point of interest it asks a question about the information that appears on the panels. Once all the questions have been answered, you can take it to the Tourist Office where families will receive a small gift from September 21. As for the story, it is a small square book of 18 pages with large print and illustrations by Amanda Casanovas , where Estar and Tit look for the secret of happiness. In their search, they find very interesting answers from the different fauna and flora that live in the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter natural park.
Beyond the self-guided routes for families on their free visit to l’Estartit, the project to enhance the natural and fishing heritage takes advantage of l’Estar i en Tit to create self-managed educational proposals aimed at primary and secondary schools related to the landscape and fishing. Through the narrator’s voice of the two drawings, materials adapted to the curriculum of each educational stage will be provided. Teachers will be able to consult these educational resources in advance in order to be able to use them during school trips to the municipality. In addition to the documents, complementary teaching materials will be provided at the Tourist Office, which must be returned once they have been used.
The project to enhance the natural and fishing heritage of l’Estartit is an operation co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. The panels, activity book and treasure map are published in Catalan, English, French and Spanish and the story, for the time being, only in Catalan. All resources can be requested from the l’Estartit Tourist Office. The Educational and Tourist Project of the Natural and Fishing Heritage in l’Estartit will be presented next Wednesday 20 September at 11am at the Mediterranean Museum in Torroella de Montgrí.
This proposal reinforces the tourist destination’s commitment to family tourism, one of the most important target audiences of Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit. Since 2007, Torroella de Montgrí and l’Estartit have been certified with the Family Tourism Destination (DTF) brand, created by the Catalan Tourism Agency of the Generalitat of Catalonia with the aim of distinguishing those municipalities that have the appropriate resources to guarantee a good family holiday. These resources are specified in specialized services for families; guaranteed security; an extensive entertainment and activities program for children; facilities suitable for the little ones in public areas, accommodations and complementary offers; easy access to information on daily activity programs, to better plan your stay; accommodations and catering adapted to families; identification bracelets for the little ones; children’s club on the beach and beach library, and routes enabled for walking and cycling. The municipality has a wide range of activities to offer families a sea of possibilities to spend their holidays and leisure time. Proposals such as tasting, listening and discovering the Mediterranean at the Museum of the Mediterranean, traveling to the era of knights and princesses by visiting the medieval town of Torroella de Montgrí, playing the role of an explorer in the different places of the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter natural park, or becoming a pirate to disembark in the coves and seabed of the Medes Islands and the cliffs of the Montgrí Massif. In addition, the municipality enjoys a wide expanse of flat and safe beach ideal for making sandcastles and soaking up the sun with all the guarantees.
