The former mouth of the River Ter forms a singular ecosystem that is full of life. Among the vegetation of the marshes and the freshwater ponds there hide a large number of aquatic animals. The reedbed provides refuge for many birds all year round.

Years ago, this zone was an arm of the River Ter before it was rerouted towards its mouth. It is now a wetland fed by rainwater and the irrigations of the agricultural plain. It is a rare ecosystem that lives in fragile equilibrium with the urbanised lands surrounding it.

From the observatory of the Ter Vell, with binoculars, we can watch birds like mallard ducks , Eurasian coots , Zitting cisticolas , barn swallows and even great bitterns.

We can also watch aquatic animals like the otter or the Mediterranean pond turtle.
