The Medes Islands hosted the Spanish Championship of Underwater Photography, Videography, and inclusive categories this weekend, with over 150 participants
L’Estartit will be the venue for the 2025 World Underwater Photography and Videography Championship after successfully hosting this year’s Spanish competition. The event, taking place from October 6-12, 2025, will follow the championship recently held in Saranda, Albania. This will mark the 21st edition of the Underwater Photography Championship and the 7th of Underwater Videography.
Canary Islands and Galicia win the Spanish Championship
This past weekend, the awards for the Spanish Underwater Photography, Videography, and inclusive categories were presented. The Canarian duo Jesús Yeray and Abigail Martín won the Spanish Underwater Photography Championship, while the Galician team of Jorge Candán and Lino Fontán took home the top prize in the videography category. In the inclusive category, the Catalan pair Eduardo Hernaiz and Charo González triumphed.
The event, dedicated to Xavier Safont, one of the pioneers in this field, drew significant participation.
