4. Mascort Foundation – Casa Galibern

The foundation was established by Ramon Mascort i Amigó, a lawyer, multi-faceted businessman and the patron of environmental conservation initiatives. The Mascort Foundation was set up in 2007 with different purposes in mind. These include the dissemination of historical knowledge, promotion and understanding of art, and support for the defence of nature. Casa Galibern, the foundation’s headquarters, was built by Ramon Galibern Casanovas, Ramon Mascort’s great-grandfather, upon returning from Brazil having made his fortune there. The building therefore features some Brazilian architectural influences. The foundation hosts exhibitions on history, art and nature, and has published different works on these subjects in relation to Torroella de Montgrí and other towns in Catalonia.
