5. Vila Casas Foundation – Palau Solterra

Since the year 2000, Palau Solterra has been home to the Vila Casas Foundation Museum of Contemporary Photography, where a permanent collection of over 200 photographs by artists from different parts of the world is on display. The mansion, which is an example of 15th century civil architecture, was the traditional residence of the counts of Torroella de Montgrí.
Throughout the year the museum holds travelling exhibitions by contemporary Catalan and foreign photographers who are closely associated with the local area, as well as monographic and group exhibitions by artists with a long professional career, both in Catalonia and internationally.
The museum has been a benchmark for contemporary photography in Catalonia since the nineteen-sixties.
