Torroella de Montgrí facilitates shared mobility with the installation of a carpooling meeting point in Torroella de Montgrí and another in L’Estartit. The installation of these signs wants to make easier for users of apps like Bla Bla Car to meet and share journeys. One of the points is located in the Lledoner car park in Torroella de Montgrí and the other in the car park of the entrance of L’Estartit.
The initiative aims to promote more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility and at the same time optimize the space on the roads and car parks and facilitate transport for those people who do not have a private vehicle or public transport alternatives.
A kind of mobility that is growing
This mode of mobility is growing, and in places like the Basque Country or France there are public policies that encourage it. Fixing spaces at the entrances of Torroella de Montgrí and L’Estartit as meeting points for ‘carpooling’ aims to help promote this mobility and identify it as another option for going to or from Torroella de Montgrí and L’Estartit. In fact, according to data provided by the Bla Bla Car platform in 2022 there were 1,600 trips published on this platform with origin or destination in the municipality and in the year 2023 there have been 640.
In 2022 these trips had an average price of €16 and offered to connect Torroella de Montgrí and L’Estartit with 241 locations. The most relevant: Barcelona, Girona, Toulouse, Badalona and Sant Cugat del Vallès. As of 2023, the average price is €17, with 241 destinations and the cities of Barcelona, Benicarló, Montpellier, Sabadell and Toulouse as the most relevant.
The Tourism Sustainability Plan is committed to efficient mobility
This initiative is part of the Tourism Sustainability plan that is being developed by the municipality until 2024 with a budget of 3.6 million euros.
